This model shows an example used by USAF in Vietnam in FAC ( forward air control) operations. The model has two binary underwing rocket launcher.
It was called a 'war among treetops' by one FAC pilot, who flew 230 missions without ever getting high enough to don an oxigen mask. Fortunately, the O-1 was nimble and responsive - as it had to be to survive.

Installation

To install this aircraft into fs2002 simply extract all of the content of the archive in FS2002/aircraft folder. Winzip will make the rest for you.

This Fs model aircraft has much as possible moving parts like flaps, ailerons, rudder, elevator, tail wheel which steer linked to the rudder and main gear rolling wheels.
It has also detailed cockpit canopy with pilots inside.

A good panel made by Brahim Rhoul can be downloaded from www.SurClaro, the name of the file is L-19_pnl.zip it is a highly realistic Bird Dog panel which comes from a photograpy of the real panel, has a pedestal and outside view windows. All the instruments are operative, with joystick movement and night lighting instruments.
Though the panel is made for fs2000 nevertheless it can work on FS2002 , but Brahim Rhoul announced to me that an update of the panel for FS2002 will come as soon as possible.

This is my old model for fs2000 extensively modified an updated to the new standard of FS2002 with new lighting effects.

The O-1E Bird Dog

Built as a private venture and first flown in December 1949, the model 305 was winning contender in an April 1950 US Army competition for a tandem two-seat liaison and observation monoplane. Ordered in June 1950 as the L-19 and named Bird Dog, the aircraft was redesigned O-1 in 1962. The first production Bird Dog was rolled out in November 1950. Subsequently a total of 2499 of the O-1A version was built, a further 66 being completed as O-1Bs for the US Marine Corps, 307 having dual controls as TO-1Ds and the definitive series model being the O-1E, of which 494 were delivered. The last mentioned variant, introduced in 1957, featured uprated equipment, and served with distinction with the USAF in Vietnam. Fuji in Japan built 14 L-19E-1 and eight L-19E-2 instrument trainers after delivery of 107 ex-US Army L-19As to the JGSDF in 1954/55, with the local name of SOYOKAZE (Breeze). Despite their age, more than 200 Bird Dogs remain in active military inventories worldwide, the principal operators being the South Korean Air Force(20), and teh army air components of Pakistan (40), Thailand (28),Turkey (50); other operators include Austria (5), Italy (3) and Malta (5).
